GeekVape Aegis Mod
GeekVape has released its first electronic box, the Aegis Mod. This is a unique little box mod that nobody has quite done the same. The box mod is all off road terrain and not afraid of anything. The GeekVape Aegis mod is the first waterproof and dust proof mod to hit the E-Cig market.
Let’s dive in.
Aegis Mod Grip Style
Indeed the box Aegis is a fairly small box. It has a ski-grip style but remains stylish and stylish. The faux leather finish and the seam are well found, this adds an undeniable added value to the look of the mod. Not very high (9 cm) but wide (about 5 cm), it imposes. Indeed the Aegis 100w is made for outside, to go out, work, move. So having a good autonomy is important. Compatibility with the 26650 batteries was therefore essential.
The GeekVape Aegis mod works with a 26650 battery. It is also compatible 18650, 21700, and 20700 (with an adapter) but we recommend the use of a 26650 for the best battery life.
Water and Dust Proof
Classed IP6 and IP7, the Aegis Mod is therefore resistant to a humid and dusty environment. As there are many videos on the net, I would not need to throw the mod at the bottom of the pond behind my home to test, others do it.
We note, however, that even if the box resists the assault of a farm vehicle without flinching, it is the coating on the screen that suffers. It is a fact, it is the screen that is the Achilles heel of the GeekVape Aegis Mod and can take a few scratches without recovering. For the chassis the box is actually very solid.
Be careful with the concept of waterproof. Classified IP67, the box can be submerged less than 30 minutes and less than 100 m deep. Survive a fall in the toilet bowl: yes. Surviving a swim across the English Channel: no.
Chipset & VPC Mode
Tested in SS, the box reacts correctly and with logic. Fans of mech mods will appreciate the Bypass mode, less aggressive than the Power. Finally the VPC mode proposes to make your power curve with 5 settings. This mode is very useful for coils that need to be boosted (Staggered, Clapton and other beefy builds). The Aegis 100w vape mod VPC (Power Curve Adjustments) are well done and very easy to adjust, unlike other boxes. The diagram on the screen shows the behavior of the live box, which helps a lot to understand the principle of this mode. As a bonus, a slider shows on the screen the progression of the power.
This is about the only gadget that Geek Vape offers on its chipset. No frills, complication, GeekVape Aegis Mod goes to the basics. Three successive clicks on the Fire and you are in the menu. There are not thirty shortcuts to memorize, it’s quick to master and it’s perfect.
An excellent Curve mode easy to adjust
Aegis Mod Design
On the ergonomics side, the GeekVape Aegis Mod is designed for a great feeling grip. But it’s the big hands that will appreciate more the squat size of the mod. The combination of black silicone, aluminum and imitation leather has an ox effect and plays a lot in the attraction we have for the Aegis 100w. In short, solidity, performance, design and finish, the Aegis Mod has almost everything to please. Rest this screen. Large, readable.
Reactive and powerful
We can take this box everywhere without fear of scratches and shocks. Except for the screen. And that’s not all. The GeekVape Aegis Mod is not a Super Box. Geek Vape really worked. This is seen by watching the chipset. Announced as being very reactive, it is true, the Aegis 100w reacts very quickly to the support on the switch fire. Which is very spacious elsewhere. Be careful to prime and soak your wicks, the fire starts a quarter turn. Which is a very good thing for the low resistance and greedy in watts.
For GeekVape Aegis Mod updates, you must access the USB connection by unscrewing the cover at the top. This is an extra protection to keep the vape mod waterproof. It is of course forbidden to recharge the box USB.
The firmware V1.21 improves the display with more precise information. It improves the TCR in SS (which works very well!). It also includes an automatic atomizer recognition function.
To succeed the update we advise you to read the indications given on the Geek Vape site. The update is done without the battery. Pressing the Fire when connecting. Finally, press 5 times on the fire to finish the update.
Geek Vape offers us an electronic mod works well at the chipset level and a powerful vape. The VPC mode is excellent and goes well with big coils. The Aegis 100w mod is as sturdy as it looks and the finishes are nice. The ergonomics are excellent, especially if you have big hands, and the line “wrist” is relevant. Side strength, the main argument of Geek Vape, if the box can vape in extreme conditions and withstand a lot of abuse, do not expect to keep the chrome nickel mod until the end of its career. If a product was indestructible, that would be known.
